![]() When I was browsing the Restore’s different sleep sounds, I was surprised there were only three noise colors-pink, white, and brown-and none of them are the tone I prefer. I also find it strange that Hatch doesn’t list many details about the Restore’s sound options on its website, so you don’t really know what you’re going to get until you buy it. For the price, I honestly expected to have dozens of options to choose from. Even with the Sleep Membership subscription, there are 13 music options for your Unwind routine and 24 sounds for Sleep routines. The Hatch Restore 2 only features three noise colors-pink, white, and brown.Ĭonsidering the overall price of the Hatch Restore 2, I expected there to be more sound options and flexibility when setting up routines. Overall, I definitely felt more well-rested than when I used my phone alarm. It managed to rouse me from my sleep gently by slowly increasing the light 30 minutes before the alarm went off, and the chime noise was enough to wake me up without startling me or my partner. There were several occasions during testing when I had to get up early for appointments, and I paired the Restore’s sunrise alarm with a wind chimes sound. I don’t use an alarm on a daily basis, so I find them really jarring when I do need one. I also really enjoyed the Restore 2’s wake up routine, and that’s saying something, as I’m not much of a morning person. ![]() The soothing noise helped me fall asleep and minimized interruptions throughout the night-it even managed to mask the sound of my rooster crowing outside at the crack of dawn. It took some trial and error to find sounds and settings that I liked, but ultimately, I settled on the brown noise at night, with a gentle white nightlight that turns off after 20 minutes. Overall, I really enjoyed using the Restore 2 as part of my daily bedtime and morning routines. The Hatch Restore 2 routines helped improve my sleep However, the voice commands would be handy if you place the Restore further away from your bed. While you can ask Alexa to turn the device on/off and adjust its settings, I never really did, as the Restore was within reach on my bedside table. I quickly fell into a routine using the Restore at bedtime, and I found the operation to be easy and intuitive. The Restore 2 also has a little toggle switch on the side that makes it easy to turn your alarm on or off, but you can also select which days you want it on when you set it up in the app. To start your Rest or Rise routine, you simply press the button once, and you can tap it again to skip a step or hold it down to shut it off entirely. Because the buttons feel different, it’s easy to find the right one, even in the dark. It has two oversized buttons on the top: The Rest button has a closed eye icon and concave form, and the Rise button has an open eye and convex design. Once your routines are set up, it’s simple to use the Restore 2. The new Hatch Restore 2 design is easier to operate with large, easy-to-find buttons. ![]() What we like It’s more stylish than the first-gen Restore However, some of these new features are only available with a Hatch Sleep Membership, which we’ll talk about below. It also offers 21 new sleep sounds, 10 new alarm sounds, and new light and sound pairings for the sunset setting. Its new design is easier to operate with large, easy-to-find buttons, and it has three built-in speakers for improved sound quality. In addition to an upgraded appearance, the Restore 2 has a few additional improvements over the original version. This device is specifically designed for adults-if you’re looking for a children’s nightlight, you’ll want to check out the Hatch Rest or Rest+-and it allows you to set up highly customized routines to help you unwind in bed, sleep during the night, and wake up in the morning. The Hatch Restore 2 is the next-gen version of the brand’s popular Hatch Restore noise machine and nightlight. The Hatch Restore 2 comes with everything you need to set it get up and running (cat not included).
